This Sunday marks a very significant day for four individuals. It signifies a life's work, a dedication, a commitment to excellence and achievements reached by only a few. It's the induction ceremony for the class of 2015 to the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame.
To be inducted is more than your picture on the wall with those who came before, it's not about the acceptance speech or the gathering of supporters, it's about a life's body of work in sports and community that is deemed to be far superior to those who played, coached and contributed to our community and local sports programs.
To become a Hall of Famer, it takes a commitment, and longevity, and this year's inductees have shown just that. Luella Aina, Elson Mori, Don Memmer and Chris Leonard, we congratulate you on being voted as the class of 2015 for the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame.
Come and celebrate with us as we unveil the new wall at the Prince Kuhio plaza this Sunday at 10am followed by a celebratory lunch buffet at the Nani Mau Gardens at 11:30 (tickets for the lunch are a $25 donation).
