A woman was taken to the hospital after suffering injuries from jumping off of Rainbow Falls waterfall in Hilo. Two women who are both in their 20s jumped off of Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot-high waterfall in Wailuku State Park. Several onlookers entered the river in an effort to rescue the women. The Hilo Fire Dept. responded, as well as a helicopter, a medical unit and a rescue diver.
Although the full details of any injuries are unknown at this point, one of the women was unable to walk unassisted and the other women appeared to be uninjured. This is not the first time someone has been injured after attempting to jump off of Rainbow Falls. It is very dangerous to attempt and it is unclear how deep the water is on any given day.
