Governors Ige's office announced a halt to all telescope construction until further notice.
Over 750 people gathered on top of Mauna Kea on Wednesday (June 24), blocking access to TMT workers. Police officials requested that the groups of people blocking access would allow TMT workers through to the construction area, but with the amount of people blocking access they were unable to get through. It took TMT workers several hours to move a quarter of a mile up the mountain. Large rocks from the mountain were moved to the roadways, also blocking access.
11 people were arrested for refusing to clear the roadway.
