The visitors center on Mauna Kea has now reopened after being closed for 43 days. Officials stated they shut down the visitor center due to strained resources and staffing. The visitors center closed their doors on June 25, one day after people on the mountain blocked access to TMT workers by placing large rocks on the road.

The visitors center on Mauna Kea is now open, and will be open from 9am-10pm 365 days a year.
