Hapuna Beach State Park remains closed for the remainder of the day due to a shark attack that happened on Wed. March 18. A Kansas man was snorkeling with his family when he was bit by a 10-12 foot tiger shark. He suffered from lacerations to his left arm and upper thigh area. He was transported to Queens Medical Center in Oahu. The Department of Land and Natural Resources has closed Hapuna Beach for the remainder of Thursday. Beach-goers should exercise caution if entering the ocean at nearby beaches to Hapuna.
Hapuna Beach State Park will re-open tomorrow morning (Fri. March 20) unless there is any signs of sharks in the area.
