The Aloha State is second to none when it comes to quality of life, beautiful scenery and some of the best beaches in the world. It's also second to none in cost. According to studies done by CNBC and USA Today, Hawaii is the most expensive state in America to live in. From big things like houses averaging out at a price of $868,312, to small things like a sack of potatoes; which averages out to cost $7.79 in Hawaii, compared to the national average of $4.45.
With that being said, Hawaii also ranks in the top five for happiest states in the country. With the quality of life in Hawaii and the Aloha spirit flowing freely, having a little higher cost to live paradise is a price many are willing to pay.
