A bill passed on Friday April 24 that will raise the legal smoking age in the state of Hawaii from 18 to 21 years of age. The recent bill was passed by Senate by a vote of 19-4, making Hawaii the only state in the country to put this law in place. The bill also makes it illegal to purchase electronic cigarettes for those younger than 21 years of age.
While Hawaii is the only state in the country to set the legal smoking age to 21, a few other states have set their legal smoking age to 19. Certain counties and cities in the United States have raised the legal smoking age to 21, but not the entire state at this time.
