Thursday, July 23, 2015, 7am – Pu‘u ‘O‘o overflight: Eruptive activity persists on Kilauea's east rift zone, as flows continue to creep forward. Still roughly 5 to 5 1/2 miles from the vent, the overall volume seems to be low, maybe a result of the current deflationary episode. Lava has also pushed into the northern tree line, charring a stretch of about 1/2 mile, roughly two miles from Pu‘u ‘O‘o.
