I always believed I would work at a big company, be a manager, and make lots of money. Man, was I wrong. I have two little girls, and I want my little girls to look up to me and say, “I want to be just like my mommy!”  So I was like  any other American  thinking that if I work  the “9-5” for a big  company and work really hard, I can work my way to the top. Right???  Wrong!!!  Life has its unpredictable moments, where sometimes we have to go with the flow or even sometimes wing it!! Thats what we do as mothers, am I right ???  So thats what I had  going on for seven years in a company where I thought I was going to become a manager and make good money. That all came to an end in 2013.

My family and I decided to try something different and move to the mainland. I had no family where we moved to. I was born and raised in Hawai’i, and our lifestyles are way different than living on the mainland. The hardest thing was how we talk. We have our own island language, called  “Pidgin,”  so when someone  says  “Where is it?”  we then reply “Ova dea”  (over there).  So a lot of ways are different, and I had a hard time adjusting

Long story short, I lost my job in April of 2013. I was devastated, because I was the breadwinner in my household.   As I was trying to figure out what I needed to do to support my family, a co-worker mentioned Couponing as an option. I then researched online and thought to myself, What do I have lose? So that Sunday I bought four newspapers  and  started to clip out coupons. I spent hours clipping and wondering if I had wasted my money.  Would this even work?  Then I headed to the  grocery store, and luckily, they were doubling coupons,  so if you had a $.50 coupon it amounted to actually $1.00 . I walked up and down every  aisle.  I was in the store almost four long hours and headed to the register.  I could feel my stomach in knots as I brought everything up to the register. I watched as my total got larger and larger. My eyes grew BIG. The total was over $200.00!  I knew I didn't have enough funds to pay for this, if my  plan failed. The cashier then asked if I had any coupons. I didn't say a word, just handed over my stack of coupons. My hands started to shake, and I closed my eyes. I heard the beeping sound of every coupon the cashier scanned . Then the sound stopped. I was afraid to open my eyes. The cashier said, “ Ma'am, your total is $2.32.” I felt such relief  when i heard that total, because my plan had worked!

From that day forward i never went shopping with out a coupon.

I continue  to try and find different ways to save by downloading apps, looking for higher value coupons , and I ask other couponers who has been doing this for years questions. I  started  saving 40%, then 60%, and now I’ve been saving 100% on purchases. Being a mom with a family I  strive for better in our lives, and when I talk about coupons and the lifestyle of stockpiling products, I wish I had started sooner.

This has been life- changing! No matter how you look at this,  just imagine every month you have exactly what you need for your family.  You never have to worry about soap, toothbrushes, shampoo, and food, because you always have it. You know that you were smart enough to buy all needed items at a low price to add to your stockpile.  Just imagine how much money you can save just by CHANGING THE WAY YOU SHOP. It’s never too late to start learning how to Coupon and save more money. If I can do this ANYONE can,  AND I CAN  HELP!
